Tim Pleiman

Where are you from?

Grew up in Spencerville, Ohio, and lived in Chicago, Illinois for 34 years.

What is your education and personal training background?

I received a B.A. in Music Theory, Theatre Arts and German, from Asbury University. I am a certified spin instructor and I have an additional Certificate in Nutrition and Personal Training from the National Personal Training Institute in Chicago.

What influenced you to become a personal trainer?

Although I had trained regularly at gyms since college, I specifically became interested in becoming a trainer after joining a small neighborhood gym in Chicago, V-Tone Fitness in 2011. I was training regularly at that time with both the owner and another trainer there, and I was encouraged by both to get my training credentials and train clients there as well. Additionally, I became Spin-certified in 2016 prior to completing my diploma program at NPTI in Chicago, and initiated what became the most popular fitness class in the gym's history, a competitive, racing-based Spin class. Additionally I was motivated to be able to work with older generations, due to the lack of expertise on the part of young trainers in working with older adults. Although I have worked with teens through seniors, I am particularly motivated in working with Gen-Xers and Baby Boomers to help them realize and embrace their best lives.

What's your favorite part about BayFit?

BayFit is wonderful, community-oriented gym with a quality, diverse, extremely-friendly and polite membership. It reminds me strongly of my original gym home in Chicago.

What do you enjoy doing when you're not at the gym or working?

Swimming in my pool and working on my tan, playing the piano, going out and hanging out with friends.
